"DOCTOR WHO" - sc-fi TV series special co-starring Dalton
In May 2009 it was confirmed that Timothy Dalton will play in one of the forthcoming specials of the popular BBC1 TV series Doctor Who as he was spot by The Sun filming in the UK. For some time rumours had it that Dalton would appear in two episodes of the series - "The Waters of Mars" (broadcast on Nov 15, 2009) and a 2-part special "The End of Time", the final episodes starring David Tennant as The Doctor. However, it is now clear that Dalton does not appear in "The Waters of Mars". Also according to IMDb.com Dalton's character in "The End of Time" (to be broadcast on Dec 25, 2009 and Jan 1, 2010) is not the one of Lord Chancellor of the High Council of Time Lords (as mentioned by io9.com) but of the Narrator only. All the information regarding the upcoming "Doctor Who" specials are kept secret. But since one of the insiders said: "“Timothy Dalton is a big coup for 'Doctor Who' because he's pretty iconic. “It's a good gig for him as it will be one of the most memorable episodes yet", it seems that he is going to play a more significant part in the episode than just a narrator.
In Nov 2009 more details were revealed regarding the main story of the final episodes of "Doctor Who" featuring David Tennant as The Doctor. The first of the remaining three episodes of David Tennant's reign - "The Waters of Mars" - was broadcast on BBC One on Sunday Nov 15, 2009. The episode, which is standalone, but leads into the final two-parter is set in the Year 2059 on Earth's first off-world colony, and features an aliens that use a water compound to infect its victims. The sixty minute special will be followed over the Christmas holiday period by the two part episode "The End of Time", which will see the Tennant's Doctor regenerate into Matt Smith's and feature a host of companions and former cast members from all three shows in the "Whoniverse". The first part of the "End of Time" is due to air on Christmas Day. The second part has currently not been scheduled, but is expected to air on or near to New Year's Day.
